A guide to Portable Nebulisers
Portable nebulisers were created to allow patients to move around more freely. Previously, regular nebulisers can't be carried around everywhere, so patients generally relied on inhalers. But inhalers did'nt work for everyone as efficacy of inhaled medicine depends upon severity of disease, patients age and special properties of the drug used. So portable nebulisers were created for people with active lifestyle. They are easy to use and can adapt to a variety of challenges.
Portable nebulizers are compact and can be carried anywhere. They are ideal for outdoor use.In many cases portable nebulisers deliver medicine more efficiently into the lungs making them less wasteful. They are far quieter than regular tabletop nebulizers which allow infants and young children to undergo less stress during treatment. If you plan to travel you will find portable nebuliser to be an extremely mobile device. They weigh a few ounce only and some come with rechargeable batteries, so no need to carry any cords.
Although portable nebulisers are more expensive, your insurance may help cover some or all the cost of the device. If you use a nebulizer it will be a good idea to seek advice before buying insurance to find out what insurance providers will cover. If you are planning to use a handheld nebulizer please take note of some usage instructions:
- Keep the device within easy reach near you
- Assemble carefully, a clean tube and mouthpiece should be attached to the intake valve and on the other end of the tubing attach the medicine cup.

- Turn on the nebuliser, sit in a comfortable position and put the mouthpiece into the mouth. Keep breathing normally until the medication is gone
